Is there a reason I should avoid moving on a Friday?

Although a weekend move will sound appealing and may be the best option timewise, as most people may not be busy on weekends, it is one fo the worst days of the week to move house.

Why should I hire a removals company?

Hiring a removals company could be the best thing you ever did, and we’ll tell you why…

We’ve mentioned time and time again that moving house can be an awfully stressful time – although, it’s definitely worth it in the end!

Hiring a removals company is likely to save you time and stress as you focus on other, smaller parts of the move that can easily be overlooked.

Many movers seek to complete a move on the same day which is possible. If you’re after speed, hiring a professional removals company will be incredibly beneficial as they will have the correct equipment and expertise to complete your move efficiently, they will also take extra precaution with fragile items to ensure no damage is inflicted on your belongings.

With the peace of mind that a reputable removals company is literally taking care of your property, this allows you time to collect keys for your new property.

It is likely that your chosen removals company will offer you a variety of other services which can aid in helping your relocation go even faster.

Note that before any moving, it is important to have some insurance in place to cover any loss or damage of your items!

NKA Removals offer removals solutions across the UK and Europe!

– Money/credit/debit cards

Ensure that all of your boxes are labelled with the room the contents of the box belong in. It is also advised to number boxes and keep lists of what is in each box, similarly, label fragile items that are boxed clearly.

When in the process of the move, you may want to pack a bag with essential items that may be required, such as clothes, medicine, food, drinks, (potentially) maps, a medical kit etc.

Moving abroad

Handling a move from one town to another comes with its own difficulties.

Imagine moving across to the other side of the world?
Nevertheless, moving abroad is incredibly exciting but it can be stressful.

NKA Removals can off the assurance that your belonging will get to your new home safe and securely, we can also offer you tips for when moving abroad!

Containers

When shipping overseas, rather than being charged in weight you will be charged in bulk thus meaning your belongings will need to fit into the standard shipping containers (20′ or 40′) and will be charged for the space that is needed, whether it be the entire container or part of it.

To speed things up a little, you may want to book your own container which will arrive on a lorry at your day for you to pack, sealed and then shipped. Once it has arrived it will proceed to be delivered directly to your new home.

De-clutter

When deciding what to bring, this is the perfect opportunity to de-clutter. If your new home doesn’t have a garden, consider throwing out any garden tools you won’t need.
Ask around and see if you could potentially store anything with friends or family.

You can then list your remaining items into ‘Non-essential’ and ‘Essential’ lists and acquire quotes for the move of your essentials, or for both.

If the cost to ship out the items that aren’t necessarily essential outweighs their worth, you may opt for leaving them behind and use that money to purchase replacements when you arrive.

…And make money

If you decide to sell any belongings that you no longer need, you can easily make a decent amount of cash. Any items that are baby and child related will possibly sell faster.
Any other items can be either given to family and friends or to charity.

Packing

If a company has been enlisted to help you with your packing or do it for you, ensure you’re present to help with instructing how the fragile items will need to be packed.

Make sure you take any portable devices i.e mobiles, tablets, kindles and laptops with you along with important documents.

Take as much as you can

Bear in mind to consider what to and what not to ship; it won’t be worth shipping items you will require straight away.

A majority of airlines may increase your baggage allowance if you let them know you are emigrating.

Tax

Remember to fill out tax forms when you are leaving the UK and ensure to set your post up for re-direction if necessary.

Another tip if making the effort to learn the language if it isn’t your native tongue; learn the standard phrases, details can be picked up once you’re in your new country.

These tips will hopefully make your move abroad easier.
