On many occasions before, we have said that packing is a time-consuming task for even the best multitasker.
This can be especially trying when left to do the last minute and without any professional help from a removals company.
There are five reasons we believe hiring a professional removals company is the best option when moving house.
Below, NKA Removals have put together a list of common questions that are asked regarding removals.
Is there a reason I should avoid moving on a Friday?
Although a weekend move will sound appealing and may be the best option timewise, as most people may not be busy on weekends, it is one fo the worst days of the week to move house.
Some companies may even charge extra to move on this day, and if you experience any delays – you might have to wait until Monday to rectify issues.
When considering an international move, it is important that you find a removals company you can trust.
A regular house move demands a lot of time, however, when crossing oceans and borders, the importance of all aspects of your going to plan and avoiding a chaotic experience will be much more significant.
In saying that, it is vital to know what questions to ask, as the reliable service from a professional overseas mover can be the difference between a smooth, straightforward moving process and a difficult one.
When you are preparing to move homes, there may be an urge to move all of the contents in your household.
However, you must bear in mind that the more the take with you, the more time you will spend packing and unpacking your belongings, plus, in a majority of cases you won’t need a lot of the things you are packing when you arrive at your new home. It is beneficial to factor in time to go through each of the rooms in your house and run through what you do and don’t need.
Hiring a removals company is essential for when you are planning a move, they offer many benefits!
However, before you decide on hiring a removals company, there are things that you should know prior to making the decision.
When considering making a European move from anywhere in the UK, there are some considerations you will need to think about when moving.
As Europe is one of the most secure and hospitable places to live in our current time, it is increasingly being chosen for work and study. Europe is home to many vibrant cities that are packed with culture, energy and life – a travelling holiday across Europe is sure to expose us to diverse culture, entertainment, societies, and academic advances.
The prospect of moving within Europe can be an extremely exciting one, however, once you have made your decision, there are preparations that will need to be done.
Hiring a removals company could be the best thing you ever did, and we’ll tell you why…
We’ve mentioned time and time again that moving house can be an awfully stressful time – although, it’s definitely worth it in the end!
Hiring a removals company is likely to save you time and stress as you focus on other, smaller parts of the move that can easily be overlooked.
Many movers seek to complete a move on the same day which is possible. If you’re after speed, hiring a professional removals company will be incredibly beneficial as they will have the correct equipment and expertise to complete your move efficiently, they will also take extra precaution with fragile items to ensure no damage is inflicted on your belongings.
With the peace of mind that a reputable removals company is literally taking care of your property, this allows you time to collect keys for your new property.
It is likely that your chosen removals company will offer you a variety of other services which can aid in helping your relocation go even faster.
Note that before any moving, it is important to have some insurance in place to cover any loss or damage of your items!
NKA Removals offer removals solutions across the UK and Europe!
There is a large amount of preparation and organisation that goes into moving items into a new house.
If there are many boxes that hold fragile items, any valuables or large pieces of furniture to move, hiring a professional removals company to aid you with your move will be an ideal investment. However, it is important for you to choose the correct removal company for your move.
Things to remember when choosing a removals company is:
Price isn’t everything
Ensure you obtain several quotes from a variety of removal firms. When doing this, check over any fine print so you are aware of what is covered and what is not. Remember to not necessarily for the cheapest removal company; you must remember to factor in their availability along with the services you are being provided.
There are a number of questions you may want to ask possible removal firms in order to help you make a decision such as:
- What type and level of insurance is offered?
- How long has the firm been trading and are they able to supply references?
- How will possessions be packed and protected?
- How long will the move generally take?
- Will you need insurance? What does that insurance cover?
Be sure to begin early with your preparations to give yourself enough time to research into a number of removal companies and choose the right one.

It’s an ideology near enough everyone exercises, what isn’t thought of is the unexpected that is to come along with it.
The Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) issued a warning to Britons who have toyed with the idea of moving abroad, with advice to plan for the unexpected prior to moving to an unknown destination.
Minister of FCO, Mark Simmonds, outlined the appeal of moving abroad: “The appeal of warmer climates and experiencing different countries and cultures is strong for many British citizens. We want to pave the way for our expatriates to have the best experience possible when they move abroad.
“Our consular staff across the world have dealt with a high number of British expats requiring assistance for financial issues – whether as a result of a house purchase gone wrong, having inadequate funds to pay for medical bills or experiencing some other misfortune that has resulted in financial hardship.
“It’s important to do your homework so that you are well informed about your new environment before you travel.”
The FCO compiled a checklist that will help movers join the other six million Britons living abroad and help make the transition smoother:
– Research your destination; visit forums and check out community resources to familiarise yourself with the area
– Know the local laws and customs
– Don’t rush into purchasing a property abroad, visit the area before had to get a feel of the place and imagine everyday life there
– Seek out independent legal advice and don’t feel pressurised to use an existing property developer’s
– Plan ahead for your health – once you have left the UK permanently, you are no longer entitled to any medical treatment from the NHS or a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC)
– Financial requirements should be considered for – check if moving abroad may have any impact on benefits or income that is received
– Do your tax regulations homework
– Know the cost
– Say your goodbyes – GPs, the Social Security Office, HM Revenue & Customs and the Department of Work & Pensions will need to be notified you are moving overseas
– Integrate – probably the fun bit of moving is integrating with your local community, also make the effort to learn the lingo!
