Make sure that all valuables, including documentation (e.g. insurance certificates / passports etc) are kept secure.

When labeling boxes, it is helpful to indicate which room they are intended for.

Any boxes containing fragile / delicate items, should be marked appropriately

Make sure that you can easily locate items that will be needed immediately on arrival for example bedding, cooking utensils etc.

Sell any unwanted items at a car boot sale prior to the move or donate to charity shops.

Make sure you double check each room before you leave to make sure nothing is left behind.

Remember to drain oil / petrol from lawn mowers etc to ensure safe transportation.

If you are moving with pets, fill an empty spray bottle with disinfectant just in case of accidents.

Try to use up the food in your freezer.

And...remember to cancel all local deliveries (e.g.milkman) and disconnect all utilities (e.g. phone, gas, electric) before moving!!!
